Wishlist Wednesday!

Wishlist Wednesday's will happen when I get new polishes that are on my wishlist which you can read at the top of this page. I went shopping today because I had some coupons that were about to expire and ended up picking up a few extras(no surprise lol). I got NYC Color Battery Park Purple, Essie Go Overboard, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Frutti Petutie, and also Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Kook-A-Mango and NYC Color Long Wearing Classic Coral Creme which were not on my wishlist originally.

Oh! and also the rite aid that I've been going to lately is getting remodeled next week so a lot of stuff will be reduced to make it easier to move around(AWESOME!). The rite aid closer to my house is trying to expand so if/whenever that happens I will be a happy camper! more room for polish please! :)

French Nails with a Little Bit of Color

Today is Technique Tuesday but I'm feeling a little under the weather so I wasn't feeling up to being creative. I did however do a french nail which I love to do. It's pretty much fall and I love french nails in fall with all the long sleeves and while the weather is still summery my mind is focused on fall so I thought a simple french would be really pretty :). I added a bit of blue so there would be color and just for something a little different than your average french nail.

Swatch it Saturday-NYC Color Chinatown

Sorry this is so late I woke up late and had plans with my friends so I didn't have enough time to post this. NYC Color Chinatown is a really dark sparkly purple that pretty much looks black in 2 coats. I thought this would look different on my nails so it's not my favorite. I would probably use this as the base color for a nebula nail art since it's dark and sparkly. It went on smooth though so that is always a plus. Nothing worse than a color you thought you'd like that goes on horrible.

Technique Tuesday-Color Block

So last week I mentioned starting something called Technique Tuesday. It didn't work out last week but today I have something blog worthy! yay! I decided to try color blocking since it seemed easy enough. I even figured out how to get tape to not mess up my mani so that got me all excited. I used Zoya Jolene, Malia, and Areej.

Swatch it Saturday-Un-named Rue beaute

I got this polish a few weeks ago when I went to Rue 21 with my friends. It doesn't have a name sadly, but is a really pretty turquoise. The color in the pic is pretty close to the actual color though just a tad more green. My camera doesn't like to show the green in polishes :(. This was 2 coats and maybe I should've done a third I don't know. I did test out a new crackle over this though but forgot to take a pic because I went bowling last night and there were a few causalities. So next post will have little stubbies. Anywho, I'd definitely wear this polish again. It's pretty, went on great though may be a 3 coater depending on your preference. The only bad thing I could think of is not having a name. I even googled the company trying to see if it had a site where there would be a name but came up empty. Maybe I just gave up too soon and it's really out there? I'll have to try again and get back to you.

Sparkly Pinks Comparisons

I was going to do nail art today as the start of what will be my Technique Tuesdays but nothing was working out today so I'll try again next week. I seem to have acquired five similar sparkly pink polishes, so instead I've decided to compare them. They look even more similar in the pic but I will describe them by how they look in person. The five polishes are Zoya Katy, Color Club Wing Fling, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Hot Magenta, L.A. Colors Fuel, and Color Mates Fuchsia Flash.

pointer:Zoya Katy middle:Color Club Wing Fling ring:Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Hot Magenta pinky:L.A. Colors Fuel thumb Color Mates Fuchsia Flash

Zoya Katy is a darker pink in comparison to the others(minus Color Mates Fuchsia Flash) and has a less noticeable shimmer to it. Color Club's Wing Fling is a slightly lighter pink but way more noticeable sparkle. It's the closest to Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear Hot Magenta, yet the sparkle is more prominent. Hot Magenta is just barely darker than Wing Fling and the nail line is a little less noticeable but maybe in another coat that wouldn't be an issue. L.A. Colors Fuel is the lightest of them all and to be honest, to me it just seems like a lighter pink version of Hot Magenta. Finally, there's Color Mates Fuchsia Flash. In the bottles this is definitely the darkest of the pinks. The difference is not as prominent on the nails though(doesn't seem like it in the pic). The sparkle is more subtle than Wing Fling, Hot magenta, and Fuel, and I'd say about the same as Zoya Katy.

All in all, I'd probably wear some of these more than others but that's just based on personal preference. There were no problems in application or formulas that I noticed so it's really whatever polish I pick up first.

Swatch it Saturday-Revlon Spanish Moss

I've decided to put more time into my blog. Starting with Swatch it Saturday's! Every Saturday I'll pick a polish from my stash and swatch it. My first Swatch it Saturday will be Revlon's Spanish Moss.

This polish came out earlier in the year as part of a spring collection. I don't know if it's just me but I feel like the color is more of a fall? The first time I saw this I instantly thought of a camo green. I think it would be perfect. It also has a bit of a subtle shimmer to it when you turn your hand or the bottle the right way in the light. It went on pretty well and was almost a one-coater. I'd definitely try other colors from this collection based on this polish. Good job Revlon! :)

It's darker in person, my camera just isn't a big fan of greens. Also, the shimmer is easier to see when the pic is enlarged.

L'Oreal Penthouse Pink and Essie Mink Muffs polka dots

My camera hated L'Oreal Penthouse Pink so much I don't know why! It didn't want to show the actual color no matter how many different things I tried. It's such a pretty light pink though :). I'll have to do a swatch sometime cause two nails are not enough. I originally was going to use Pure Ice Kiss Me Here instead of Mink Muffs, but it came out looking more green than gray on my nail. Weird cause I don't remember it being like that before & it still looks perfectly gray in the bottle lol maybe it was just my eyes again? So anywho, then I decided to use Essie Mink Muffs instead. A color I knew I loved. I also set out to do stripes as an accent nail but that didn't work out so great because me and tape don't work out and my freehanded stripes were horrible too. Didn't have the right tool for the job. So I settled for polka dots. I showed my mom my nails and she thought they looked like a baby shower nail so I'd say keep that in mind for the next time you go to a baby shower. I used pink but you could use a light blue or maybe even a light green. I'm not so sure out a yellow though it could look good but I'd be willing to bet that a light purple would look pretty. :)

Wet n' Wild Gray's Anatomy

This is a sheer gray, purple, green, blue duochrome polish. The color change is very noticeable in the bottle but I don't think it is as much on the nail. I mostly see the gray and purple and a little of the green and blue if I turn my hand the right way. It's definitely interesting to look at and turn your hand in every direction trying to see all the colors easily seen in the bottle lol. I did a thin base color of white since it was so sheer but I still ended up using three coats of Gray's Anatomy. Maybe if I did a thicker white layer or a second layer of white first it would've been fine? I'll have to try next time. I'm also curious to see what it would look like over other colors. I'll have to look into that too. I don't know if this color by itself is the best color against my pale skin but my mom was the one who was attached to it lol, so maybe it would look better on her slightly more tanned skin. It's not horrible and it's growing on me, but it's not my favorite.

My camera didn't want to show the purple-ness so you can only see it a little. Here's another pic.

It looked more purple on my camera's screen lol

Olympic Nails Again! Event Pictograms!

Oh how I continue to love the Olympics and Team USA! We are doing so awesome that even spoilers don't bother me anymore because they are mostly good! If you can believe it, they kinda get me excited to watch(don't hate me or tell NBC LOL I'd still rather see them live). I have been itching to redo my nails for a few days now, I suppose that might be why I painted my toes. Since the Olympics are still on and going strong I decided to do another Olympic themed nails. Event Pictograms! I didn't do any research of anyone doing them on their nails already so I'm not sure if this is correct, but judging by the fact that I haven't seen any in the HUGE amount of Olympic themed nails I'm gonna say this is rare. I googled and went on the London 2012 website to look at the pictograms as reference for when I painted them. This Olympics is very colorful in that each venue has a different color and even the official logo is shown in multiple colors. I chose purple as it is my favorite color and it is also the color of the band of the London Olympic medals. And if you can't tell what I did I did Beach Volleyball, Badminton, Swimming, Gymnastics, Athletics(Track and Field), Diving, Football(soccer), Fencing, Basketball, and Cycling.

NYC Color Prince Street

NYC Color Prince Street is a really pretty dark purple with some shimmer. It went on great in two coats which is awesome. My camera hates every shade of purple so the color isn't exactly the same but I tried to get it as close as possible. I used this as a base color in my second London Olympics nails so I took a pic for a swatch before I went any further. Here is also the pic of the stripes from those nails. I think they look kinda cool like this. :)
