New Years!

Wow this year went by so fast! So many things happened this year. I crossed off 3 things from my ever growing bucket list, and here's hopin' i cross off more in 2012! Today is my best friend's birthday and I'm so excited!!! I'm about to eat my weight in mini weenies and get super hyper off a bunch of sugar. I wrapped her present last night and it looks gorgeous! Best thing I have ever wrapped it looks so pretty! I'm kinda sad because I know she's gonna open it but then I get all excited again cause I know what it is and she's gonna love it! It's gonna get a lot of use. ;)

Here are my New Years nails:

And hey, I might as well show you all my awesome wrapping skills so here is my best bud's present:

It's pink like her, cause she's a girl. lol inside joke. :) Hope everyone has an awesome New Years Eve, and an even better 2012.

25 Days of Xmas Nails Day 22

Wow this is late. I was really busy around Christmas and I thought I'd have time to paint my nails but I didn't. O well, maybe next year I'll just do 12 days lol. So here is what I did way back on the 22nd.

Kinda like the wrapping paper fail except that these are presents and look waaaaaay better. :)

25 Days of Xmas Nails Day 21

Here's what I did for today's nails... :)

25 Days of Xmas Nails Day 20

Happy 1st night of Hannukah! I feel bad every December for Jewish people because everything is Christmas, Christmas, Christmas and sometimes all this stuff about Christmas annoys me, I could only imagine how people who don't celebrate it feel. So I'm showing some love by doin' Hannukah nails. I don't even know if I spelled it right because I've seen it spelled so many ways, but hey, I'm tryin'.

P.S. the pinky is a yamaka lol & i think my dreidel came out awesome!

25 Days of Xmas Nails Day 19

Less than a week until Christmas! Who's excited? *this girl* This Christmas is gonna stink though but you don't need to know the details lol. Today I did stockings. This was really quick and easy to do which is always a plus. :)

25 Days of Xmas Nails Day 18

Today i did icicles. The blues photo'd lighter then they really are so it makes them kinda hard to see but that's okay. They also are upside down in the pic but that's just the way I take my pics, I couldn't get all the nails another way.

25 Days of Xmas Nails Day 17

Today i did an ice skate and used a new glitter polish i got as an early xmas present to look kinda like ice.

25 Days of Xmas Nails Day 16

I had a late night last night & didn't end up painting these until after midnight so technically i painted these today. This is my failed attempt at a polar bear for the coke a cola polar bears that come around at christmas time. :/

25 Days of Xmas Nails Day 15

Here are today's nails. I did a gingerbread man that photo'd weird and polka dots that I like to think would be cookie crumbs. :)

25 Days of Xmas Nails Day 14

I was having computer issues yesterday & it wasn't letting me upload the pic. My other nail ended up breaking :( so i cut all the nails on my right hand. I hate short nails they make my fingers look so short & stubby. I kept the nails on my left hand long though for pictures lol so it feels weird. I also don't like these. They didn't turn out the way I wanted. I was going for wrapping paper designs but it didn't happen. oh well i guess :/

25 Days of Xmas Nails Day 13

These are from yesterday but I had a really bad headache last night & I've been busy all day so I'm finally getting around to posting this. I still haven't painted today's nails yet but they will be done most likely after I post this. I also broke a nail playing basketball this morning but it was on my right hand so it's not that bad(I'm still bummed, I blame my mom for playing with me) and I think I might have another 1 that's broken in the middle a little bit but is still connected on the side. I don't know, but I'm gonna try & save it lol.

Wow you can really see how not straight my lines are on a couple of those lol. I was following the whites of my nails so I blame that.

25 Days of Xmas Nails Day 12

These are...interesting. I used Zoya Tangy as a base and it was really sheer so I used like 4 coats. Then it didn't photo right so they look a little weird but oh well :/

And yes, those are my awesome pj pants...I have them on my list of nail ideas so maybe in the new year?

25 Days of Xmas Nails Day 11

I just did something simple today since yesterday's was kind of complicated. I got a couple more Zoya's around Thanksgiving but they weren't really christmas-y so I haven't used them. It was so hard going into my tackle box everyday and seeing them and not being able to use them. I used one yesterday on my Snow Miser nails (Danii the purple) and so today I was like 'You know what? I really wanna use my other color so I'm just going to. Who cares if it's not very Christmas-y?!' Surprisingly, I don't know if it's just me but the color actually kinda looks Christmas-y to me. I added a wreath on the ring finger to tie it all into the Christmas theme.

The color is evangline and it is darker in person. It is also sparklie so that is always a plus. Every girl loves sparkles right?!

25 Days of Xmas Nails Day 9 & 10

I'm combining days 9 & 10 because they go together. I did the Miser Brothers! Snow Miser didn't come out that great but whatevs, what are ya gonna do?

25 Days of Xmas Nails Day 7 & 8

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. I didn't even paint my nails, it was a pretty crappy day. :( But I do have a pic of something I did on my friend a couple weeks ago for day 7 & I did a little something for day 8.

Snowflake, candy cane, dreidel, gingerbread man, and snowman.

Couldn't get the sparkles to photo right but oh well, whatdaya gonna do? They look prettier in person.

25 Days of Xmas Nails day 6

Yay! Look at me all remembering to post! Polar Express is on at the moment so naturally, I'm watching it. I also went with something simple because yesterday's took me a while and I knew I had stuff to do today. Although the glitter and crackle will not be fun to remove tomorrow even when I use my 100% acetone. Oh well, the things we do for pretty nails! :)

25 Days of Xmas Nails Day 5

Omg I am so unbelievably horrible! I remember to add the pics to my facebook page but I always forget to add them to my blog. I'm so sorry. These are yesterday's nails. I haven't painted today's yet, but that's okay I have time. I painted Santa, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, & Blitzen. Oh, and of course Rudolph! :)

I think they're cute! :) Gonna be sad to see them go later today.

25 Days of Xmas Nails day 4

Ok, so here are today's Xmas nails! I love Santa Claus is Coming to Town so today i did Topper the penguin and some polka dots. Super easy and super quick! :)

25 Days of Xmas Nails Day 3

I am horrible! -.- I was having computer issues yesterday and got frustraded. In my frustration I totally forgot to post my nails, so I am posting them today. I noticed my ring finger got messed up after I had already taken the picture, but it's not that bad.

25 Days of Xmas Nails Day 2

So here is what I did for today's nails. Candy Canes! :)

25 Days of Christmas Nails

Whoops, I forgot to post yesterday's nails. I love Christmas and I love the 25 days of christmas, so I thought, hey, why not do my nails everyday until christmas?! So I will post yesterday's and today's and then hopefully I will remember from here on out. :)

Twilight Breaking Dawn comes out at midnight

And here's what I did on my nails today, well so far I've only done the left hand but whatever lol. Breaking Dawn comes out at midnight tonight. I would go but people will scream whenever something happens, so I will just wait and go later in the day sans screaming girls.

I got the design pretty much from the daily nail I just changed the thumb. Overall I'm pretty impressed with myself. I think these came out pretty good. Sorry about the pic I used my phone.

Polka Dots & Accent Stripes

Here is what I did on my nails last week:

I used Zoya Jolene, Zoya Malia, Sinful Colors Paradise, and Pure Ice Super Star. This is super easy to do if you have a dotting tool or something else that can make dots.

Essie Lady Like

I don't know what came over me to buy this. I thought it was a purple I guess. I don't know, sometimes I have color problems it seems. But before you take this post negatively(I'll admit it is sounding like it) I suppose I should say that I actually like this color. Surprising!

Essie Lady Like is a neutral which is why I don't know why I bought it. I'm not usually one to wear neutrals because I am literally the whitest white person ever. I gravitate towards bright colors and I'll admit I wasn't even going to put this color on. My friend technically picked it when I gave her a few options for what I should put on my nails.

Anywho, I put one coat of this on my nails, and again I will admit I almost took it off after the first finger. After the first coat was on I was like 'I need to do something to this so I'll like it'. So glitter it was! After the second coat I put a coat of Wet n' Wild Hallucinate over it. And just like that I actually liked the color! It's amazing what glitter can do!

I couldn't get a decent pic of the glitter from my phone and I would use the camera but the batteries were dead and I couldn't find the batteries. But I do have a pic of just Lady Like. Even after a few days I still like this color. It's really growing on me.

I have a few questions...

I ended up cutting all my nails back down :( I know, I've turned into one of those girls that cries when she breaks a nail(although i don't cry, it's more getting mad and depressed). But hey, it takes a while for them to grow back! Which brings me to my first question.

What do you guys use when your nails break? Do you just let them grow or do you use the special polish? I've tried a few and I'm not entirely sure if they worked because I put polish over it and never took it off and 'repeated steps blah blah blah for 10 days'. It just feels weird to not have polish on all the time. Should I just get over it and follow the directions or not bother and just let my nails grow?

I also have nails that peel. I again, tried the special polish. Still couldn't tell you if it's worked because I didn't fully follow the directions. But I can tell you that they still peel. What can I do to get them to stop? Is it because I always have polish on?

One last question, this one is for my mom. Her nails have been breaking really far down. Like REALLY far. To tell you the truth I'm glad it's happening to her and not me because then I really would be a girl that cries when her nails break. They don't break all the way off but enough so that when she pulls her fingers through her hair it gets caught. Is there something she can do to repair the break so it doesn't rip off her nail? What could she possibly be doing that would cause it? Has anyone else had this problem? I just feel bad for her and want to help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also have half a post done at the moment. I just have to put more batteries in the camera so I can get a good picture of my nails. Maybe this weekend?

Halloween Nails

So I did these a few weeks ago. I don't know why I did them so early but I guess it's kind of a good thing because now I have something to add here. :)

A candy corn, tombstone, frankenstein(the color that doesn't photo right. in person it is more green.), spider web, and jack-o-latern. This was also the first time I used Zoya Kimmy which was a little weird color wise here but in my Blue's clues nails it was normal so I don't know what was wrong with me.

Here are the webcam pics of my friend's Halloween nails:
Black with orange tips, frankenstein with a different green, and a candy corn.

This one's a little far away but it's a jack-o-latern that I kinda messed up so it's a vampire jack-o-lantern, candy corn, frankenstein, a mummy made with toilet paper, and a ghost.

Hey Everyone!

My nails are back! Well kinda...they were. I had every intention of trying a new polish and kinda reviewing it here. I got my nail caught on something so I went to my tackle box to grab a nail file so my nail wouldn't beak. I have a love/hate relationship with my tackle box. Sometimes it opens easily and sometimes it is more difficult. Last night it was difficult and i broke a nail. :(

Now I'm probably going to cut them all back down again. I'm so totally bummed beccause they just barely got back to the length i like and they were all the same length. So frustrating!

But I have a post that I'm pretty sure I didn't put on here a couple weeks ago so I can put that up after this. Plus I hung out with my friends last weekend and did Halloween nails so I can add those on too. The pics are from a webcam though so they're not the best.

NAIL TIME!!! ;)

OMG! These nails are my total favorite nails I have ever done! I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! They are so adorable and I can't stop looking at them. I really hope they last until Friday so all the little kids at banking can see them *fingers crossed*.

Mail Box, Blue, Thinking Chair, Steve's sweater(I'm not a Joe fan at all), and a Blue's Clue. :D

Sinful Open Seas

A few weeks ago now I broke a nail so I clipped them all and decided I was going to do some swatches/reviews. I wanted to use a color I hadn't used yet so I went with Sinful Colors Open Seas. Great color! I love it! It's a great fall green. Although, it was a little weird. I don't know if it was just me or not but it seemed like the color changed. It would be green one time and then the next time you looked at it it looked blue, and the pictures didn't help. A took so many pictures and none of them captured the right color.

The polish went on nice and it only took the standard two coats for full coverage. Here are two pics that hopefully can give you an idea of what the color looks like:

This one looked too blue to me. In person the color is more green like in the next picture.

This pic is a tad blurry but it shows the green of the color.

My Rite-Aid Haul

Oops! I fell asleep and forgot to add my Rite-Aid haul post like I said I was going to. Then I went to my friend's soccer game and a volleyball game that was raising money for breast cancer and it was late when I got home. But I had fun and I have something I forgot to do last time I was with my Friends to show after my haul.

Ok back to my Rite-Aid adventure! My mom printed out a coupon for $2 off an Essie fall shade. I didn't even know Rite-Aid had Essie before that so I was all excited for my first Essie (keep in mind this was the whole reason we went to Rite-Aid). Then when we got there I couldn't find them and I was all sad but then my mom found them hiding in a corner (the good stuff is always hidden). I don't know why but I looked down...and FLIPPED OUT! Rite-Aid has Sinful Colors!!! My mom had never heard of them so I think I scared her a little bit. I spent quite a bit off time trying to pick which colors to get. I ended up getting two but believe me I will so be getting more!

While I was flipping out over some Sinfuls my mom was looking at some Wet n' Wilds. We both like bright colors so I can always count on her to pick out some good ones. After I had calmed down a bit I looked at the Revlons. I always look but never get anything because they usually only have pinks and reds, but this time I saw a light blue. I wish I got another one because they were BOGO 1/2 off but oh well.

Here's the pic of what we got. And it all started with a coupon for Essie...

Wet n' Wild Wild Shine Sunny Side Up, Wet n' Wild Fast Dry Teal of Futune & free top coat, Sinful Colors Paradise & Open Seas, Wn' Wild Fast Dry Sage in the City, Essie Lady Like, & Revlon Blue Lagoon. My mom tried the Sunny Side Up and it wasn't her favorite, and from what I saw from Sinful Paradise and Revlon Blue Lagoon when I sponged them for my jeans mani they definitely have potential to be some favorites in my collection. Oh! I totally forgot! I also ordered 5 more Zoya's with the free shipping code that should be here in a few days for look forward to a post of those!

I broke a couple nails yesterday :( so I'm thinking I might just cut them all and maybe do some swatches till they grow out again.

Oh! And I have a pic of what I did on my friend's nails yesterday! She took it on her webcam but you can still see the design pretty much. She loves my french nails but she likes having colored tips instead of the traditional white. Last time when I did her nails I did blue tips and forgot to take a pic, but this time she wanted red so I did red tips with a little design.

Jeans

Oh hey! :) I have followers now! How exciting! I'm not talking to myself anymore! Ok onto the post...

I went shopping the other day and I got some more nail polish which I just remembered I put a pic on my facebook page but never made a post. I'll have to do that after this one. So after such a great nail polish day I was all excited to do something cool with my nails with my new stuff. The only problem was I had nail polish on already. Not normally a problem but for some reason the last time I painted my nails I put on glitter -.-

Not even kidding it took my mom and I at least 30 minutes to get all the polish and glitter off my nails. Then I did all the nail treatment stuff like buffing & nail polish that is supposed to help with my peeling nails. Let's hope that works because it said not to put polish on for like a week or something like that and I don't know if I can do that seeing how I've had painted nails constantly since the middle of July.

Now onto what I did to my nails because this is turning into a long post. I tried to make it look like my nails were jeans. Let them have polish has a video that I kinda based mine off of. I don't know if these scream out jeans but whatever I still kinda like them. I put both hands in the pic this time.

I used Sally Hansen Thinking of Blue, Sinful Colors Paradise, and Revlon Blue Lagoon that is pretty much impossible to see in the pic but in person you can see the sparkles from it.

Another French Nail Variation :D

Ok so I knew I wanted to do another french nail variation but I had a little trouble getting some inspiration. I spent a good 2 hours on google images & youtube looking at pictures & no spark. My friend suggested fall & i thought of a really cool idea, only it wasn't the right time for it. It has to be later on in the season for it to work so look forward to that! Finally, getting iritated that I couldn't think of anything and feeling pressured because i had to be somewhere in little over an hour, I just went at it. Somehow I just let my hand draw whatever it wanted on my nails.
Here's what came of it:

I used Pure Ice Superstar, the pink from the Sally Hansen french nail kit, L.A. Color Art Deco brush in silver & Sally Hansen nail art pen in black.

French Nail Variation

It's long sleeve weather!!! My nails always look so much better when I wear long sleeves. I've been in a french nail mood lately so I've decided my next couple of times I paint my nails they will be some sort of french manicure.

I used Pure Ice Super Star, the pink that comes in the Sally Hansen French Nail kit thing, Pure Ice Beware, & L.A. Color Art Deco in Purple.

I also painted my friend's nails but someone forgot to take pictures so I guess we'll just have to wait till next time to put them on the blog.

Money nails

Tomorrow I have to go to banking with my mom at the elementary school. I have to wake up super early which isn't fun for an insomniac who hasn't fallen asleep before 3 am in months. But anywho, I figured I would paint my nails in things to do with money to get myself excited.

I did a money bag on my thumb, a quarter of my pointer finger, dollar on the middle, piggy bank on the ring, and a failed attempt at a penny because i couldn't get the brown to get lighter when I tried mixing it. Oh well : /.

9/11 nails

I had to do it. Just something simple but hopefully meaningful. Our country's colors red, white, and blue with crackle over it to symbolize the the cracks left in America after 9/11. The memorial in NYC is really pretty. Hopefully I will visit it someday, perhaps when the museum is finished?

I used Pure Ice Super Star as a base, L.A. Color Art Deco brushes in red & blue for the stripes & Sally Hansen Crackle Fractured Foil over it. I used Sally Hansen nail art pen in black to write the date of the attacks.

It looks better in person, I always have trouble taking pictures of sparkles. :/

Zebra

So after that not so great post, here's a somewhat happier one! :)

A while ago now, I asked my fb & twitter peoples for ideas on what to paint on my nails. I got a response on twitter from someone who said to do zebra stripes. Relatively easy. I went on google(I love google, so helpful) to look at pictures of zebras and their stripes.

I used Pure Ice Super Star! as the base & L.A. Color Art Deco Black for the stripes.

What a long night...

Ok so I tend to do my nails at some ridiculous time of night because I am a total night owl/insomniac and what else is there to do? So I asked my facebook friends for any suggestions for designs before I started(I have a list of ideas but sometimes nothing jumps out as "I have to do this!" so I ask people) and my friend suggested Phineas & Ferb(we love that show). I was skeptical at first but I told her I would look into it. I went on google & found a video (IHaveACupcake on youtube there is also a fb page) & I put my can-do attitude right on & got 2 work! Phineas came out HORRIBLE! I figured i would just redo him if the others came out relatively ok but then Candace had some issues(might have just been me) & Isabella looked bad b/c of my small pinky nail, Ferb was the only one I absolutely loved. Perry came out pretty cool too. Then there was no way I would be able to do them all on my other hand.

So....I removed them & then I figured I would do argyle. I was gonna do purple but the purple I tried first was really blue & I couldn't get it all off so my nails still had blue around them. Then I figured I might as well do blue argyle since my nails already were kinda blue. I couldn't get the squares right so I took them of and decided I was gonna use my Zoya Katy that I hadn't gotten around to using yet and I put Sally Hansen crackle Fractured Foil over it.

By now it's 5:30 in the morning and I was mad at myself for spending all night on my nails only to be something simple. Here's a pic of what came out of that night. Maybe I'll try Phineas and Ferb again someday & I'll put the pic of it on here.

Paint Splatter

I got this idea from cutepolish on youtube. She also has a facebook, so check those out. These nails are SUPER easy to do even on the non dominant hand. All you need are your nail colors, cutepolish used a base & 4 colors i used a base & 3, and a tooth pick. Mine got just a tad messy so I recommend having q-tips handy for cleanup.

Paint your nails your base color. Then choose a corner of your nail & place a blob of paint on your nail. Use a toothpick & spread out the color so it looks like splattered paint. Simple right? You can do all of 1 color in the same spot, like all the yellow splatters in the bottom left, or switch it up for each nail. I switched mine up.

I used Pure Ice Super Star, Zoya Areej, Wet 'n' Wild Tweety, & NYC Color Spring Street.

Back to School

Ok so this week everyone went back to school...well not me, but it's a long story. Anywho, I saw a picture of back to school nails on facebook(I think there was/is? a contest to win something I just follow so many nail things I can't remember what one it was on) and thought that would be perfect for this weeks nails. My nails chipped so bad in the shower there was no way I could go to bed with them so bad, so at 1am I sat down and did my nails. One hour later my nails were done.
So I did a ruler, blue lined paper(inside joke), a pencil, an alarm clock that I couldn't get to photo that great, & the stereotypical red apple. I used Milani holo 510, Pure Ice Super Star, Wet 'n' Wild Tweetie, Wet 'n' Wild Wild Shine Pink Petal Glitter, Zoya Angelina, Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen black, Claire's 2 way nail art pen/brush green, 10 Chocolate Kiss, and L.A. Color Art Deco red & white.

nail hauls

My stash has grown just a tad. :)

I got 3 new polishes with the latest Zoya promo. I love Zoya oh so very much! :D Plus I didn't win their contest but I plan on taking full advantage of their free shipping promo. :)

The same day my new Zoya's came in we went shopping. Milani's were bogo at CVS so, naturally, that was our first stop. Also got 3 Confetti's, a Shatter, & white nail polish. Then we went to walmart & I found these random Dare polishes so I got them. I thought we bought those 2 little bon bons, but after I took the pic I realized I already had them. Oops! :)
Then like a week later we went shopping again & I got 2 Pure Ice's, a Milani nail art brush, another Milani, a 10, & a nail art pen.

Chipping

A little piece of me dies every time my nail polish chips.  I spend so much time trying to get my nails relatively nice looking and then out of nowhere a little piece chips off. So sad :( I just did them two days ago too. Even sadder :( Am I the only one who feels this way?

Friday, August 26, 2011

rug nails

Ok, so for these I couldn't decide what to do on my nails and I had a lot of ideas but none of them seemed to stick. I've been at my aunt and uncle's house for the summer and they have a rug that has a pretty cool pattern that I thought would be cool and relatively easy to recreate on nails. And thus my nails were born!

I used Zoya Phoebe as a base and then used L.A. Colors Art Deco brushes in white & silver for the design. I was going to take a picture of the rug but I can't get the lighting right so maybe some other time?

end of summer nails

Summer is pretty much over :( so sad. So for the final week I decided to do sunsets & palm trees on my nails. I got the idea from a youtube video, I don't remember which one exactly because I watched a lot to see all the different methods, but if you search it you can find a few to work from. This was my 1st time using a sponge & I'm not entirely sure if I did it right but oh well, I know for next time! :) I didn't really like them at first but now i love them!

I used Zoya Phoebe, then sponged on Zoya Katy(:D), & then sponged Pure Ice New Lilac over Katy. Then i put on a little bit of Milani Dreamy Creme & a touch of wet 'n wild glitter. Then for the palm trees I used a Milani Nail Art Brush. My top coat is a strengthener because I have weak nails.

For right now I'm working backwards from what I have posted on my facebook, and I take my pictures with my phone and the pics aren't that great but you can still see the design pretty much.
